PHYSICIAN (Psychiatrist varies areas

The majority of time will involve case consultations for inpatients, in collaboration with medical and subspecialty care teams, in a large VA hospital, and will also involve consultations to the outpatient primary care and subspecialty consults,e-consults from providers, and working with multiple social workers and primary care psychologist peers.
This Psychiatrist position is within a well-established resident training program, which includes adult inpatient and outpatient services .
The position is also open to ranks of Assistant Professor level or above, and will involve clinical, educational activities, and opportunities for research at the Indianapolis Roudebush VA Medical Center. This VA is a key academic site for the Indiana University School of Medicine, the second largest medical school inthe U.S. Substantial roles in teaching and supervision of medical students, residents, and psychiatry fellows will be important. Educational experiences are also provided to appropriate health care personnel who seek training in mental health services (e.g. medical students, psychology and social work interns, physician assistant and nursing students, and non-psychiatry medical residents).
Major duties include:
  • Application of accepted protocols for assessment of the individuals presenting with psychiatric symptoms including but not limited to, altered mental status,substance withdrawal, and the varied psychiatric diagnosis in DSM-5.
  • Assessment may include gathering verbal and documented history, mental status examination and medical and laboratory evaluation.
  • Diagnostic description or formulation to guide appropriate acute and secondary treatment interventions.
  • Provision of psychiatric care according to his/her privileges.
    Basic Requirements:
  • United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
  • Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
  • Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Preferred Experience: Board certification or board eligibility in Psychiatry.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
